Internet History
1965:
The USA defense ministry financed a study to establish computers network using the time sharing
technology for a military purpose.
- 1967:
The first design of the computers network (ArpaNet) was introduced.
- 1969:
Network Measurement Center became the first node in ArpaNet, followed by
Stanford institute and California Univ.
- 1970:
New network "AlohaNet" at Hawaii University, later connected to ArpaNet.
- 1972:
The first Electronic mail (E-mail) system.
- 1973:
ArpaNet was connected to London University in UK and the Royal Radar
Foundation in Norway.
- 1974:
The networs services were introduced to the public by a commercial network
similar to ArpaNet.
- 1979:
Starting the discussion groups "Usenet" using UUCP protocol.
- 1981:
Bitnet network in New York University, followed by CSNET in USA and
Minitel network in France.
- 1982:
ArpaNet used the new protocol TCP/IP.
- 1984:
Domain Name Server was introduced.
- 1988:
Direct conversation service using IRC.
- 1989:
More than 100'000 Hosts connected to the net.
- 1990:
The end of ArpaNet.
- 1991:
CERN company introduced the World Wide Web "WWW" for the first time.
- 1992:
The first Sound and Vedio through the Net.
- 1993:
Starting Radio broadcasting through the Net.
- 1995:
Java language was introduced.
