Web Terminology
When you deal with the Internet service you have to deal with special expressions
like TPOP,IAP, SMTP .......etc.
Some of these expressions will be discussed here briefly
IAP & ISP
IAP ( Internet Access Provider ) & ISP ( Internet Service Provider ) are simply the providers of
Internet service. The two expressions usually refer to the same meaning.
POP ( Point Of Presence )
POP is a local Internet dial-up access point set up by an access provider to reduce the
telephone charges. There are two types of POP - TPOP : Traditional Point Of Presence
- VPOP : Virtual Point Of Presence

FTP,HTTP,POP3 & SMTP
These all refer to protocols. A 'protocol' is essentially an
agreed way for two devices to communicate with each other. It defines many issues, including
packet format, how it is verified, how routers deal with it, and other issues. Hyper Text
Transfer Protocol (HTTP) is the standard way of transferring Web pages.
File Transfer
Protocol (FTP) is facilities allow you to download files form Web sites.
POP3 and SMTP (Simple Mail Transferring Protocol) are two Internet protocols for
transferring e-mail.
SSL (Secure Socket Layer)
If you want to use on-line order forms, then you need encryption facilities to keep
the security of your credit card information. SSL provides these facilities. It stores order
forms in an encrypted area on the server and helps protect data from misuse.
